Around 400,000 guests a year visit the three “Schmidt” stages on Spielbudenplatz: the “Schmidt Theater”, “Schmidt's Tivoli” and the youngest and smallest one, the “Schmidtchen” which opened at “Klubhaus St. Pauli” in 2015. The oldest of them, the “Schmidt Theater” was established in 1988 and became nationally known in the early 90’s when NDR television broadcast the monthly “Schmidt-Show” which featured soon-to-be-famous comedy characters like “Herr Schmidt” (played by theatre entrepreneur Corny Littmann), “Lilo Wanders”, “Mr. Holm” and “Frau Jaschke” and which quickly gathered a cult following. Nowadays, the theatre hosts its successor, the “Schmidt Midnight Show” with changing comedians, every Friday and Saturday. All three stages serve food and drinks, and the in-house restaurant “Dips’n Stix”, the bar at the “Schmidt’s” foyer, the cocktail bar “Glanz & Gloria”, and the popular night club “Angie’s” on the top floor of the “Tivoli” are real crowd-pullers.
