The „Star-Club“ is a legend in its own right. “The musicians never give the twist fans a break”, local newspaper BILD wrote in 1962. “In the newly opened Star-Club, Hamburg’s youth celebrate the non-stop rocking and twisting bands from England: the Beatles, the Graduates, singers Roy Young, Tex Roberg and the Bachelors.” Up to five different bands played here each night. And the Beatles had their last Hamburg gig here in December 1962. But in 1969 it was all over, the musical taste of the audience had changed, other clubs broke new ground. The legendary building burned down in 1983 and was demolished in 1986. But today, partying is back at Grosse Freiheit! From here, St. Pauli icon Olivia Jones runs her entertainment empire with several small clubs at the former location of the “Star-Club”. One of them is “Olivia's Show Club”, one of the last cabarets in the style of St. Pauli’s golden age. As part of “Come Together”, exciting talks and readings will take place here in a plush 70’s atmosphere.
