GRETEL & ALFONS

In the 60s each band member was only allowed to have two beers during the entire night at the Star-Club - so of course they quickly found a marvellous workaround for this problem. They just went next door in-between the sets and Gretel and Alfons quickly became The Beatles ‘and every other Star-Club band’s local which they called “the living room “.  In 1990 Paul McCartney paid an old bar tab from 1962. The tab’s now hanging behind the entrance door together with a signed tour poster reading: “Thanks, Paul McCartney. Paid in full.“
